Grew up riding and showing quarter horses across the country. I’m always up for anything active- skating, running, hiking, skiing, swimming, weight lifting, rock climbing, etc. Ran 2 marathons in 2015.
Roller Derby Background
I began skating at the end of August 2016, and my first bout was Punchy Brewsters vs BCB on 2/18/17! I am one of the captains for Punchies!
What drew you to roller derby?
I had several friends already on the team, and when I started vet school I never really got to see anyone anymore. I had gone to a few bouts and it looked like a blast, and I decided to join to get to spend more time with friends, meet new people, and have fun!
What is your favorite position?
Roller Derby Role Model
Every single one of my team-mates. Each person has their own strengths and difficulties on and off the track, and always give 110%. They are always working to refine their skills and are so supportive and encouraging to everyone.; they are always willing to help each other out to help us all become the best skaters we can be. Their love for the game is contagious, and they help to push me to be a better skater, and a better human being in general.
Describe the smell of your gear bag:
I spray my gear with fresh-wave deodorizer after practices, but its still pretty musty…
What is your favorite microbrew?
I’ve never really developed a taste for alcohol to be honest
What music gets you pumped for a game?
Gangster rap – Lil’ Wayne, Kanye, Jay-Z, etc
What would you like to share with someone who has never experienced roller derby or who is new to the sport?
Skating is fun, but the people you meet while playing make the sport! The community is extremely inclusive, nonjudgmental, and filled with awesome people from all sorts of backgrounds. Everyone is super supportive and encouraging.

If you could meet any historical figure, past or present, who would it be and why?
John Wooden- he has always been one of my top role models. Not only was he a fantastic basketball coach (winning 10 national championships in a 12 year period), but he was an amazing man in general. Coach Wooden enjoyed winning, but he did not put winning above everything. He was more concerned that his players became successful as human beings, that they earned their degrees, that they learned to make the right choices as adults and as parents. The amount of wisdom he had and shared with the world is absolutely incredible.
